Welcome to the 2nd Westerburg Symposium on Molecular Dynamics of the Chemical Synapse, held at the Westerburg castle, Dedeleben/Harz, August 20th - 23rd 2007.
The organizers would like to thank all participants for a great meeting! The pictures will soon be available. See you again in 2009!

The Department of Neurochemistry/Molecular Biology and the Project Group Neuroplasticity at the Leibniz Institute for Neurobiology organize for the second time the Westerburg Symposium on 'Molecular Dynamics of the Chemical Synapse'.
The last meeting on Spinogenesis and Synaptic Plasticity in 2004 was very successful and covered by a meeting report by Kreienkamp and Dityatev in EMBO Reports 5:12, 2004.
In 2007 the focus of the meeting will shift slightly towards aspects of assembly and disassembly of the pre- and postsynapse as well as synapse-to-nucleus communication. The venue will take place at a very pittoresque historical site (Westerburg, approx. 60 km west of Magdeburg) from the 20th to the 23rd of August 2007. The Westerburg is Germany's oldest and best preserved moated castle. Since June 2000 it is run as a 4*hotel. We will have a group of excellent speakers. The number of participants will be limited to approximately 100. Therefore we can promise an interesting small conference with intense discussions in a warm and rather uncommon atmosphere. We will have approx. 30 talks of about 45 min each including discussion. In addition, 30 poster presentations will be selected.
